Rocco DeLuca (born December 27, 1975 in Torrance, California) is a half Italian, half German rock artist. He grew up in Lake Elsinore, CA and Long Beach, CA. DeLuca is known for his use of the Dobro, a trade name now owned by Gibson Guitar Corporation and used for a particular design of resonator guitar. DeLuca began his career as a solo artist opening for artists like Taj Mahal, John Mayer and John Lee Hooker, and has had the opportunity to play with Johnny Cash. Starting in 2003, he had a residency at the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest, California nearly every Tuesday, running until 2006. In 2005 DeLuca was recognized by independent record label Ironworks. From 2005 to 2009 he led the band Rocco DeLuca and the Burden and signed with Ironworks. After the band’s last performances in 2009, DeLuca continued as a solo artist, and working on projects with Slash and Robbie Robertson.

Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Fox and the Bird and Ryan Thomas Becker & Last Joke together live at Sons of Hermann Hall, Friday, April 20

Three nationally lauded bands to play Dallas’ most historic venue

The perfect musical storm will hit Dallas on April 20. It isn’t often that three bands with national acclaim share a stage, let alone the most historic stage in North Texas. Overtone Booking is announcing Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Fox and the Bird, and Ryan Thomas Becker & Last Joke for what promises to be one of the most polished bills of the year.

Since 1910, the legendary stage at Sons of Hermann Hall has hosted some of the area’s most memorable shows. Friday April 20 should be no exception, as all three acts are poised to achieve great things, nationally.

Fresh off the release of their new video, “Gambling Preacher and His Daughter,” the Whiskey Folk Ramblers have been taking their unique brand of Depression-era folk on the road a lot lately, but will land back in the DFW area to share the stage with two equally dynamic acts. Fox and the Bird has fast become one of Dallas’ most talked about bands. The collective’s 2011 release, “Floating Feather,” vaulted them into regional and national prominence. Denton music legend, Ryan Thomas Becker, has once again proven why he is an area musical treasure, with Last Joke’s 2011 release, “Last Joke Band”. Comprised of members of various other storied local bands (RTB2, Oso Closo, Boxcar Bandits, Eaton Lake Tonics, Hares on the Mountain, Daniel Folmer, etc.), the super-group’s release was met with wide critical acclaim.

Presale tickets for the show are available at http://prekindle.com/promo/id/22191984701737529.
